Data Privacy: Who Can Access Your Academic Records

Data Privacy: Who Can Access Your Academic Records

Who is this for?  All learners who want to understand how their records are protected.

Miva is committed to protecting your personal information and keeping your academic records secure and confidential. Regardless of who pays your tuition or sponsors your education, your academic information belongs to you as the enrolled learner. Information is only shared in line with the Privacy Policy and applicable regulations.

Your access

As the enrolled learner, you have full access to your own records, including academic results and transcripts, course enrolment details, tuition and payment records, student account information, and other records related to your studies. You can access these through the SIS without restriction.

When someone else needs access

Some learners are sponsored by parents, guardians, employers, or others who may want updates on academic progress. Miva only shares your records with another person if you have given explicit consent. To authorise a parent, guardian, sponsor, or other individual, you must provide express authorisation through the appropriate university process.

Note  Parents, guardians, sponsors, and other third parties cannot access your records without your express consent. The fact that someone pays your tuition does not grant them access. Keep your account credentials secure and do not share your login details.

Why your Miva student email matters here

Each learner is assigned a unique Miva student email that serves as your official identity and helps ensure only you can access services and information linked to your account. Many platforms, forms, and services are accessible only through it, which helps the university verify your identity, protect your records from unauthorised access, and keep confidential information with the right learner. For your security, do not share your email login with anyone, including parents, guardians, or sponsors.
