Academic probation and suspension are measures used to uphold academic standards and integrity, applied in line with the university's Academic Regulations and disciplinary policies.
Academic probation is a standing assigned to students who do not meet required academic standards, with an expectation that they improve within a set period. At Miva, we do not operate a formal academic probation system. Instead we monitor learner engagement and progress so support arrives in good time. Learners who become inactive or show signs of disengagement are contacted by the Success Team to understand any challenges and to help them re-engage and stay on track.
Suspension may be applied under the university's Academic and Disciplinary Regulations, including cases of examination malpractice or other serious breaches of policy. Before any decision, the student is invited to a disciplinary hearing to respond to the allegations, after which the university communicates the outcome and any conditions. During suspension a student cannot register for or take courses until the period ends and they are eligible to resume, and access to course materials and activities on the LMS is restricted.
Monitor your progress regularly and stay actively engaged with your coursework. Consistent participation in learning activities and assessments is essential for meeting academic requirements and graduating. If you need academic support or face challenges that may affect your studies, contact the Learner Success Team through the Support Portal for guidance.
