Essential Tools Every Miva Student Should Know

Essential Tools Every Miva Student Should Know

Who is this for?  All newly admitted and returning learners.

As an online learner you will rely on a handful of digital tools to attend classes, complete assignments, communicate with the university, and manage your studies. Becoming comfortable with each one makes the whole experience easier.

Basic computer skills

You should be able to use a keyboard and mouse, download and upload files, save documents in different formats such as PDF, and install basic software when required.

Internet navigation

Know how to open a web browser, search for information using a search engine, and navigate websites confidently.

Email

Your student email is the university's official communication channel. Be sure you can log in, send and receive messages, attach documents, and check your inbox regularly for updates.

Google Workspace

Google tools are used widely for learning and collaboration: Google Docs to create and edit documents, Google Drive to store and access files, and Google Meet to join live classes, meet your Success Advisor, and attend lecturers' office hours.

Miva platforms

  • Student Information System (SIS): course registration, deferment, results, MivaSave, and other academic records.

  • Learning Management System (LMS): courses, learning materials, assignments, and assessments.

  • Support Portal: raising and tracking support tickets.

  • Examination Portal: examination activities such as CBT centre selection.

E-Library and Virtual Lab

The E-Library gives you e-books, journals, and databases for research. Depending on your programme, the Virtual and Robotic Lab lets you complete practical exercises, simulations, and experiments in a virtual environment.
