Convocation and Graduation Requirements

Convocation and Graduation Requirements

Who is this for?  Learners approaching the end of their programme.

Graduation marks the successful completion of your programme. This article outlines what graduation requires, what to expect during convocation, and where to find the information you need.

Graduation requirements

To be eligible for graduation, you must:

  • Complete all required courses in your programme.

  • Earn the minimum credit units for your qualification, as shown on the SIS.

  • Meet the university's minimum CGPA and academic requirements.

  • Complete any compulsory projects, dissertations, internships, industrial training, or practicum where applicable.

  • Clear all outstanding financial obligations and other university requirements.

  • Complete your JAMB registration process (for undergraduate programmes).

  • Return any university property, if applicable.

Note  Graduation requirements may vary by programme or faculty.

Checking your graduation status

Log in to the SIS and open the Graduation section to view your eligibility and track your progress towards your graduation date. Once confirmed eligible, you can complete the clearance process through the SIS. Updates on convocation dates, academic gown collection and return, and certificate collection are communicated to eligible graduates by email.

Recognition and records

Outstanding students may receive academic awards during the convocation ceremony. Your academic records remain securely stored in the SIS and accessible after graduation. Access to the LMS and some services may end after a set period, and graduates will be notified of any account changes and actions needed, such as backing up files from your university Google account.
